    NAME: Alison Blaire
    ALIAS: Dazzler
    POWER(S): Energy Manipulation
    TEAM(S): X-Treme X-Men, Excalibur

Dazzler’s mutant power is the ability to transform sound into light beams creating a “dazzling” effect. To produce light beams, she prefers using rhythmic music because she likes it and because it provides a constant source of sound. Dazzler also has polarized eyes so she can’t be blinded by her own light.
Background
Alison, a talented singer, was performing at her high school when her mutant powers manifested and she was forced to momentarily blind everyone in the audience to save herself from persecution. She hid her powers for years until she went to college. During that time, she embraced her power and used it to help create her image as a performer, including her trademark make-up and roller skates. After graduation, she decided to pursue her singing career.
Sought after by both the X-Men and Hellfire Club, Alison resisted joining either in favor of pursuing her (successful!) singing career. Later, she became a test subject for Project P.E.G.A.S.U.S. where she had a short romance with Quasar. Dazz has also been kidnapped by Galactus, fought the Grapplers in Ryker’s Island, battled Doc Ock, was possessed by Malice,  joined the X-Men, left the X-Men, married Longshot, joined Excalibur, left Excalibur, re-joined the X-Men, and led the X-Treme X-Men… all while tending to her singing career. Needless to say, she’s been busy.

I drew Dazzler for my cube mate Greg Rankin’s last day. I am sad he is leaving, I hope we get to work together again someday.

Dazzler, based offa Kris Anka new fancy-smancy redesign.
I went Pat Benatar/Debbie Harry with my inspiration with her. But to be honest, I’m torn with her ‘new’ new look. I just think its such a vast lurch over the spectrum (if that makes sense), but man it’s still cool looking.
